Can coconut oil cause dandruff?

I've always used coconut oil for my hair because my mom said it's good for growth and shine. But lately, I've noticed a lot of dandruff, more than usual. Could applying coconut oil actually be causing this dandruff problem?

Yes, absolutely. If you already have a greasy scalp, putting coconut oil will make the dandruff much worse because the fungus feeds on the oil. Skip the oil entirely and use a proper ketoconazole shampoo instead.

In our tradition, we use coconut oil regularly, but keeping it on the scalp for too long can feed the yeast that causes dandruff. It is better to apply warm oil just an hour before your bath and practice gentle breathing to reduce body heat.

Keep your mind calm and positive, as stress is often the real reason behind scalp issues. While coconut oil is a gift of nature, using too much of it can sometimes clog the scalp pores. Use it mindfully and take care of your body.

I love coconut oil in my south Indian curries, but on my scalp? It's a disaster! My oily scalp gets super itchy and flaky whenever I apply it. I'd rather eat delicious food and use a light serum for my hair.

Many people think oiling cures dandruff, but actually, it can increase it. A simple solution is to mix a little lemon juice in warm coconut oil, apply it for just 20 minutes, and wash it off with a mild shampoo. Don't leave oil in your hair overnight.
