Can chronic pain cause hypertension?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with high blood pressure, and I also have chronic knee pain for years. Could there be a connection between these two? Does chronic pain have an impact on blood pressure and cause hypertension?

Yes, chronic pain keeps your body in a constant state of stress, which can definitely raise your blood pressure over time. Please make sure to monitor your blood pressure regularly and consult a doctor to address both the pain and the hypertension safely.

I used to panic so much when my blood pressure readings shot up during my severe migraine attacks, thinking I was developing chronic hypertension. But my doctor reassured me that temporary spikes due to pain are completely normal. Once the pain was managed, my BP returned to normal, so try not to stress too much.

I have noticed that when my pelvic pain flares up badly, my body feels incredibly stressed and tense, which can easily trigger higher blood pressure. However, I am not a doctor, so I highly recommend getting a professional opinion to see how your pain might be affecting your cardiovascular health.

Bro, yes, 100%. I had a bad shoulder injury that kept me in constant pain for months, and my BP was consistently high during that time. The doctor told me the pain keeps the nervous system on high alert. Once my shoulder healed, my BP dropped back to normal.

I agree with everyone here. Constant physical pain definitely triggers stress hormones that raise your blood pressure, so getting professional pain management is very important.

Dekho, a simple rule is that when the body is in pain, it gets stressed, and stress will always push your blood pressure up. Don't sit and tolerate chronic pain thinking it will go away on its own. Go see a doctor and treat the pain before it leads to chronic BP issues.
