Can chia seeds cause stomach pain?

I've been trying to incorporate more superfoods into my diet, so I started having chia seeds regularly. But lately, I've been experiencing mild stomach pain after eating them. Is it possible chia seeds are causing this?

Yes, I had severe bloating and cramps when I first started. The key is to soak them in water or milk for at least 20-30 minutes until they become fully gelatinous. If you eat them dry, they will pull water from your intestines and cause pain, so always drink plenty of water.

Don't just believe every influencer telling you to eat raw chia seeds for health. They can absorb tons of water inside your gut and cause severe blockage and pain. If your stomach pain is bad, stop eating them and consult a doctor instead of trying online remedies.

I ignored my stomach pain after starting a new diet thinking it was just normal adjustment, but it ended up causing a severe gut infection. If your stomach pain is sharp, constant, or accompanied by fever, please go to a clinic immediately and don't self-diagnose.

I had a bowl of chia pudding last night and today my stomach is hurting so bad with a dull ache. I am really worried if it did some damage inside. Has anyone else experienced this much pain after eating them, or should I be running to a doctor?

Many people face this because chia seeds have a very high fiber content. If your stomach is not used to fiber, it causes gas and cramps. Try taking a break for 3-4 days, then start with just a quarter teaspoon of fully soaked seeds and see how your body reacts.
