I used to panic so much whenever I felt nauseous during travel and tried chewing mint gum frantically. It actually helped distract my mind and kept the saliva flowing, which settled my throat slightly. It's totally normal to feel anxious, but gum only helps with mild nausea, not heavy vomiting.
Be very careful if you are choosing sugared gums to stop nausea, especially if your blood sugar runs high. Also, vomiting can quickly cause dehydration, which is risky for diabetics. If you can't keep fluids down, don't rely on gum and contact your doctor immediately.

I know exactly how terrifying that constant feeling of nausea is, and how you feel like you'll throw up any second. Mint flavored gums can sometimes calm your nerves and give a cooling sensation in the mouth which distracts your brain. Take deep breaths, you are going to be okay, but do see a doctor if it persists.

I get very bad motion sickness whenever I travel by bus and someone suggested mint gum. Does it really work to stop that vomiting feeling, or does the constant chewing make the stomach feel worse? I would love to know if anyone else has tried this successfully.
