Can chemotherapy cause kidney stones?

My mother is going through chemotherapy for her cancer. She's complaining of severe pain in her side and the doctor is investigating it. Could chemotherapy be causing kidney stones in her?

Hey buddy, don't stress too much! Yes, some chemo drugs can sometimes trigger kidney stones because of high uric acid, but it doesn't happen to everyone. Just make sure you are drinking lots of water to flush things out, and you'll be totally fine!

My oncologist explained that chemotherapy can cause rapid tumor cell breakdown, leading to a condition called tumor lysis syndrome. This releases excess uric acid into the bloodstream, which can form crystals and kidney stones. They highly emphasize maintaining aggressive oral and IV hydration to prevent this.

Wait, I am starting my second chemo cycle soon and I am terrified of getting kidney stones. Has anyone else experienced sharp back pain or kidney issues during their chemotherapy? How did you manage it, please let me know!

Yes, some chemotherapy treatments can increase the risk of kidney stones due to high uric acid levels. Please discuss this with your doctor so they can monitor your kidney function and guide you.

Chemo can be very heating and hard on the kidneys, which sometimes causes stones. Drinking fresh coconut water and warm water with lemon can help ghar pe, but if you have severe side pain or blood in urine, please see your doctor immediately.
