Can celiac disease cause elevated liver enzymes?

My doctor found elevated liver enzymes during a routine check-up, and I've also been experiencing some digestive issues. Someone suggested I look into celiac disease. Is there a connection between celiac disease and having high liver enzyme levels?

Yes, it actually can cause that. Try not to worry too much because once you manage your diet strictly, these levels usually go back to normal. Just stay positive and take it one step at a time.

Honestly, it totally can! When I had to drop my beloved maida and normal roti to fix my gut, my liver values finally calmed down. Giving up regular samosas was painful, but gluten-free eating literally saves your liver from getting angry.

Please don't go by what random people say online about liver reports. Elevated enzymes can happen for fifty different reasons, so only a proper doctor can tell you if it's actually your celiac acting up. Go get a proper consultation done instead of searching google.

Beta, don't panic over this. When I was first diagnosed years ago, my liver reports were also quite high and I got very scared. But with a strict gluten-free diet over a few months, my liver became completely fine and I am still healthy today.

I completely understand how scary it is to see those high liver numbers on your report. I cried so much thinking something else was seriously wrong with my body. But trust me, it is a known link with celiac and it does get better once your gut heals.
