Can celiac disease cause cancer?

My cousin was just diagnosed with celiac disease, and her doctor mentioned something about potential long-term risks. It got me thinking about my own health. Can having celiac disease increase the risk of certain cancers?

Don't read random articles online and panic; they often exaggerate risks. While chronic untreated inflammation has some long-term risks, the absolute best way to protect yourself is to verify everything with a gastroenterologist and strictly follow their guidance.

Having an autoimmune condition like celiac does carry a slightly higher risk of certain complications if left untreated, much like how high BP can lead to heart issues if ignored. The key is strict adherence to your diet and getting regular health checkups with your doctor to stay safe.

I read about this link online last night and it has made me incredibly anxious. Does anyone else with a celiac diagnosis worry about this constantly, or is the risk actually very low if we stick strictly to a gluten-free diet? I am quite scared.

Beta, any long-term illness that is ignored can cause harm to the body over time. Staying away from wheat completely and keeping your digestion calm with simple, fresh home-cooked meals is very important. Always remain under the care of a good doctor.

If celiac is left unmanaged and the gut is constantly inflamed by gluten, it can lead to serious long-term complications. That is why maintaining a strict, clean, gluten-free vegetarian diet is so essential. Please make sure to get regular follow-ups with your doctor.
