Can cefdinir cause vomiting?

My son started taking cefdinir for an infection yesterday, and this morning he threw up his breakfast. He's generally not one to vomit with medicines. Could this antibiotic be making him feel sick to his stomach, or is it likely something else?

Bro, yes, it absolutely can. I was prescribed this antibiotic last year for a throat infection, and it completely ruined my stomach, made me feel super pukish. I had to call my doc to change the dose because I just couldn't keep it down.

Haan, these strong antibiotics often cause stomach issues na. My wife also felt very nauseous and vomited once when she took it on an empty stomach. Always ask your doctor if you can take a gas medicine or antacid before it to prevent this.

I can't say if this is normal for everyone, but when I took this antibiotic, I had terrible nausea and vomited twice on the second day. I immediately informed my physician, and they changed my prescription to a milder one. It's always safer to just talk to them.

It can be very harsh on the digestive tract. I usually eat a small bowl of fresh homemade curd or buttermilk a couple of hours after taking my medicines to help my gut. But if the vomiting is severe, please stop the medicine and ask your doctor immediately.

Vomiting is a known side effect of many strong antibiotics like cefdinir as they can disturb your gut flora. However, if you are unable to keep the medicine down, the infection won't get cured. It is best to contact your prescribing doctor to ask for an alternative or an anti-vomiting tablet.
