Can cavities spread?

I have one cavity that I haven't gotten treated yet, and now I feel sensitivity in an adjacent tooth. I'm worried it might be spreading. Can cavities spread to other teeth or parts of the mouth?

Yes, they absolutely can spread. I ignored a tiny cavity on one molar, and over time it not only destroyed that tooth but the decay also affected the adjacent tooth, leading to double the dental work. Please learn from my experience and see a doctor to get it sorted immediately.

In our days, we used to rinse with warm saltwater and chew on clove to keep the mouth clean and stop bacteria from spreading. While these home remedies keep the mouth fresh, they cannot stop a deep cavity from spreading to nearby teeth. You must go to a dentist to get it cleaned properly.

Oh, they definitely spread if you don't watch out, especially if you love sweet treats like me! Sweet foods leave sugar behind, which feeds the bacteria and helps them attack neighboring teeth. Get it filled quickly so you can continue enjoying your food pain-free.

Stay positive and do not stress too much. Yes, dental decay can spread to neighboring teeth if left neglected for too long. Taking gentle care of your body is a form of self-love, so please schedule a visit to a dentist to restore your health.

I used to feel so overwhelmed and anxious thinking that all my teeth were going to rot because of one cavity. It's really stressful, but please know you're not alone. While they can spread if left untreated, getting a dentist to look at it will immediately put your mind at ease.

Yes, cavities can spread in two ways: they can go deeper into the same tooth, or the plaque buildup can cause decay in adjacent teeth. I always tell people in this forum that early dental intervention is key. A simple filling now is much better than complex treatments later.
