Can cavities make your jaw hurt?

My jaw has been aching a lot recently, and I also have a deep cavity that I need to get fixed. My friend said sometimes jaw pain can be linked to tooth problems. Is it true, can cavities make your jaw hurt?

Yeah, they totally can. I had this deep cavity on my lower molar last semester and the pain literally radiated all the way down my jawline. I thought it was some muscle pain at first, but once the dentist fixed the tooth, the jaw pain vanished.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai. When the decay reaches the nerve of the tooth, the pain can easily spread to your jaw and even cause headaches, na. If your jaw is hurting, please don't ignore it and get it checked by a dentist soon.

My family often recommends applying warm compresses or using clove oil to ease jaw and tooth pain, which does give temporary comfort. However, if a deep cavity is causing your jaw to hurt, it means the nerve is likely affected. It is best to consult a dentist for a proper diagnosis.

My son had a similar issue last year where he kept complaining about a severe jaw ache, and we initially thought it was from grinding his teeth. It turned out to be a deep cavity hiding in the back. Once the dentist treated it, his pain stopped completely, so please get it checked.

I was actually researching this online because my left jaw has been aching lately. Apparently, the nerves in our teeth and jaw are closely connected, so a deep cavity can easily mimic a jaw joint issue. It definitely seems like a dentist visit is the quickest way to find out what's wrong.

You can try rinsing with warm salt water to help soothe the area and reduce mild inflammation around the gums. However, jaw pain can be a sign of a spreading infection from a deep cavity. If the pain is severe or constant, please see a dentist immediately.
