Can cashew nuts cause kidney stones?

My family has a history of kidney stones, so I'm always careful about my diet. I love cashew nuts, but a relative told me they might cause kidney stones. Is it true that cashew nuts can cause kidney stones?

Actually yaar, cashews have oxalates, so if you are prone to stones, eating them like peanuts is bad news. But occasional 4-5 kaju khana is totally fine. Just don't overdo it and drink loads of water, simple as that!

Cashews do contain a high amount of oxalates, which can contribute to calcium oxalate kidney stones if eaten in large quantities. However, it depends entirely on your personal medical history and diet. It's best to consult a urologist or a dietician to understand your specific risk factors.

If you already have a history of oxalate kidney stones, skip cashews and switch to almonds. But for normal people, eating a handful daily won't cause stones. Just stay hydrated throughout your workday to flush out toxins.

My dear, cashews are rich in oxalates, which can indeed form stones if your water intake is low. If you love cashews, try having them with a cup of milk or some curd, as calcium binds to oxalates in the gut and prevents stone formation. Still, keep the portion small.

Oh God, I used to eat a bowl of cashews daily and then read about oxalates online and got so scared! I literally stopped eating them overnight thinking I would get stones. If you are as anxious as me, maybe just reduce the quantity or ask a doc to be absolutely sure.

Nature has given us nuts for our health, but balance is key to everything. Eat cashews as a small blessing, not in excess. Stay positive, drink lots of clean water, and your body will take care of itself.

From a clinical standpoint, cashew nuts have high oxalate content. If your urine has high calcium, these oxalates bind to form calcium oxalate stones. Keep your cashew intake moderate, and make sure you drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily.

Look, if you eat a whole packet of kaju daily, your stomach and kidneys both will complain. Keep it to 4-5 nuts a day. If you already have kidney stone pain, then stop eating them completely and go see a doctor first.

I totally understand why you are worried, kidney stone pain is absolutely terrifying to even think about. I also panicked when I read about cashews and oxalates. But honestly, as long as you eat them in moderation and keep yourself hydrated, you should be fine.

My grandmother always used to say that too much of anything is poison, even rich nuts like cashews. While we use them in our payasam, we only eat limited amounts. If you are worried about kidney stones, please consult your doctor once for a proper diet plan.

Yes, they can, if you eat them like crazy. Cashews are very high in oxalates. If you have had kidney stones before, you should strictly limit them. Otherwise, a few pieces here and there won't harm you if you drink enough water.
