Can carpal tunnel pain radiate to shoulder and neck?

I'm experiencing classic carpal tunnel symptoms in my hand and wrist. The problem is, the pain sometimes radiates all the way to my shoulder and even my neck. Is it normal for carpal tunnel pain to radiate to shoulder and neck?

Ho na, the pain travels all the way up from the wrist to the neck and shoulder. My cousin had this and she used to get so tired of it. Doing simple neck stretches and applying some pain balm helps a lot.

I literally just got over this last month. The pain from my wrist would shoot straight up my forearm into my shoulder and neck, especially at night. Getting a proper wrist brace and correcting my sitting posture was what finally fixed it.

For mild radiating stiffness, you can try applying a warm heating pad to your shoulder and neck. However, if you experience sudden numbness, loss of grip in your hand, or severe shooting pain, please consult a neurologist immediately.

Oh god, yes! I got this terrible neck and shoulder pain from sitting hunched over typing food reviews on my phone all day. The nerve in my wrist got irritated and the pain went all the way up. I had to take a break from my screens!

Yes, it definitely can radiate upwards because all these nerves are connected. But don't just sit and suffer or put random balms on it. Go and see a proper doctor to find out if the issue is in your wrist or your neck.

Yes, dear, the median nerve runs all the way down from the neck, so irritation at the wrist can definitely cause pain to radiate upwards. Try using a wrist support during the day and make sure you do not sleep with bent wrists.
