Can cancer be detected in routine blood test?

My child has been having some unexplained fatigue, and I'm quite worried. We get routine blood tests done for school admissions every year. Could something serious like cancer be detected in those routine blood tests?

A routine complete blood count or metabolic panel checks general organ function and cell counts. While abnormal results can sometimes prompt a doctor to investigate further, they are not diagnostic for most solid cancers. For any specific concerns, consulting an oncologist is the best approach.

With my high blood pressure, I get routine blood tests done every six months. The doctor told me that while these tests check my overall health, they don't directly detect most cancers unless it's a specific blood cancer. It is best to discuss specific screenings with your doctor.

Honestly, I barely have the energy to get my basic vitamin levels checked because of my night shifts. From what I know, a normal routine blood test won't magically show cancer. If it did, diagnosing it would have been so cheap and easy! Best to ask a real doctor.

I am a bit confused about this. My doctor has advised a routine blood test for my fatigue, but I am scared they might find something serious like cancer. Can a regular test actually show that, or do they have to do completely different tests for it?

Please don't worry too much. Routine blood tests are just for checking your general health and basic parameters. If you have any specific worry, just discuss it gently with your doctor for peace of mind.

Haan na, even I used to think a simple blood test can show everything in our body. But actually, my family doctor told me that routine tests only show basic things like hemoglobin or infection. For cancer, they have to do special scans or biopsies, ho na?
