Can cancer be benign?

My aunt recently had a lump removed, and the doctor said it was 'benign.' I always thought cancer meant something serious and life-threatening. Can cancer actually be benign, or is it a different thing altogether?

By definition, cancer refers to malignant growths, while benign tumors are non-cancerous. However, even benign lumps can sometimes cause issues if they grow near vital organs. Please get any lump or unusual growth checked by an oncologist for complete safety.

I literally panicked so much when I found a small lump last year, thinking the worst. Actually, my doctor told me that benign means it is not cancer at all, which was such a relief. Please don't stress yourself out, just get a biopsy or ultrasound done to be sure.

Look, cancer is not benign, but many tumors and cysts we worry about actually turn out to be completely benign and harmless. The most practical thing to do is visit a good local doctor and get a simple scan done to clear the doubt once and for all.

Bro, cancer is malignant by definition. If a tumor is benign, it means it's not cancerous and won't spread to other body parts. I had a benign cyst removed from my wrist last year, it was a very simple procedure and nothing to worry about.

Hey! Just to clarify, benign actually means non-cancerous, so it's good news! 😊 Many times people get scared seeing a lump, but it often turns out to be totally harmless. Just consult your doctor to get a clear answer and stay positive! 👍
