Can calcium citrate cause kidney stones?

Taking calcium citrate supplements for a while now to strengthen my bones. I was recently told that some calcium supplements can contribute to kidney stones. Does calcium citrate also carry this risk, and should I be concerned?

From what I know, calcium citrate is actually absorbed better by the body and is often recommended because it has a lower risk of causing stones. Along with taking it, try to maintain a good daily walking routine to keep your metabolism active, if your doctor says it's fine.

Yes, calcium citrate is generally considered much safer for kidneys. Just ensure you drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily.

When I had a kidney stone issue, my urologist specifically told me that if I absolutely need calcium supplements, calcium citrate is the preferred choice because citrate helps block stone formation. But he strictly warned me never to take more than the prescribed dose.

While calcium citrate generally carries a lower risk of stone formation compared to other calcium forms, any supplement can be problematic if taken in excess. It is highly recommended to consult your physician to check your actual calcium levels before starting.

Hey, don't stress too much about this! Calcium citrate is actually much gentler on the stomach and kidneys than other types. Just take it exactly as your doctor advised, keep your water bottle handy, and you will be completely fine.

My doctor also shifted me to calcium citrate because my stomach was getting upset with other tablets, and she said it is much safer for the kidneys. Just make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day to keep everything flushing smoothly.

When I go for my checkups at Max Hospital, I make it a point to ask my doctor about every single pill. They explained that calcium citrate is safer but still needs to be monitored. Please ask your consulting doctor clearly about the right dosage for you.

I always prefer getting my calcium from delicious paneer, curd, and milk instead of pills if possible! But if you have to take calcium citrate, don't worry, it is quite safe. Just don't forget to wash it down with a glass of fresh coconut water.

Managing PCOS means I have to take quite a few supplements, and I am always very cautious about side effects. I read calcium citrate is safer, but I still prefer getting my levels checked regularly. Please talk to your gynecologist or physician to be absolutely sure.

I was researching this because my mother was prescribed these tablets. Actually, studies show that citrate in the supplement can help inhibit stone formation, making calcium citrate safer than calcium carbonate. It is still best to check with your doctor though.
