Can cabbage cause vomiting?

Whenever I eat cabbage, especially in larger quantities like in a subzi, I feel very nauseous afterwards and sometimes even end up vomiting. Is there something about cabbage that can cause this kind of reaction in some people?

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai agar cabbage acche se dhoya na ho. Raw cabbage contains a lot of bacteria or tapeworm eggs sometimes, which can easily cause food poisoning and vomiting. Hamesha acche se cook karke hi khaya karo na.

I am not very experienced with cooking yet, but my stomach got really upset after eating cabbage salad yesterday. Does raw cabbage always cause vomiting, or did I just not wash it properly? Should I completely avoid eating it raw from now on?

Bro, same here! I ate some road-side chowmein with half-cooked cabbage last week and was literally throwing up the whole night. I think those street vendors don't wash it properly, so food poisoning is super common.

I have PCOS so I try to eat a lot of cruciferous veggies like cabbage, but I have to be very careful. Sometimes, if my digestion is already weak, raw cabbage makes me extremely bloated and nauseous. I would suggest cooking it thoroughly instead of eating it raw, just to be safe.

Yes, if the cabbage is stale or not washed properly, it can definitely cause food poisoning and vomiting.

Practically speaking, cabbage itself is healthy, but because of its structure, dirt and pesticides can easily get trapped inside the leaves. If it is not washed thoroughly or if it has bacterial contamination, it will lead to gastroenteritis and vomiting. Always boil or cook it well.

I had a bad episode of vomiting after eating cabbage patra once. My doctor told me that cabbage can easily harbor germs if left in the open. Now, I always peel off the outer leaves, wash the rest in warm salt water, and cook it completely before eating.

Don't listen to people saying cabbage is toxic or anything online. If you are vomiting, it could be a simple stomach bug, acidity, or food poisoning from anything you ate. If the vomiting doesn't stop, go see a doctor instead of guessing on forums.

Cabbage is notorious for causing gas, and at my age, that gas can feel like a heart attack or make you feel totally nauseous. If it's making you vomit, your stomach clearly didn't like it. Skip the patta gobhi for a few days and stick to simple dal khichdi.

Honestly, just the smell of boiled cabbage is enough to make me vomit sometimes when I'm running on three hours of sleep. But medically, if you are actually throwing up, it is probably food poisoning from unwashed leaves. Wash your veggies, guys.

I can only speak from my own experience, but raw cabbage always gives me severe gas which sometimes leads to mild nausea. I completely stopped eating raw cabbage salads, and now I only eat it cooked. That worked perfectly for me.

My son had severe vomiting after eating cabbage momos from outside. The doctor said cabbage can have small worms and bacteria if not cleaned properly, which kids' stomachs can't handle. Since then, I only make cabbage dishes at home and wash them in hot water first.
