Can broken ribs cause vomiting?

Last week, I broke a couple of ribs in an accident, and since then I've been having episodes of nausea and vomiting. I'm wondering if the broken ribs can somehow be causing these symptoms.

I had a rib fracture last year. The pain itself can be so intense that it makes you feel nauseous, but actual vomiting is risky because the pressure can hurt your ribs even more. Keep your movements minimal and talk to your doctor immediately about pain management.

I can totally understand how terrifying this must feel, rib pain is already so scary. But please don't sit on this. If you are vomiting, it could be a reaction to severe pain or something else, so please get to an emergency room for peace of mind.

Bro, if you have broken ribs and you are vomiting, go to the hospital right now. The pressure from throwing up is going to make the rib pain feel like hell, plus you need to make sure there's no internal injury.

No, vomiting isn't a typical symptom of a simple rib fracture. If you're throwing up, you might have an internal organ injury or a severe concussion from whatever caused the fracture. Skip the forums and head to the hospital immediately.

Vomiting with a rib injury is a major red flag. Please avoid any physical movement or stretching right now and see a doctor immediately. Only when the doctor gives a green light after healing should you start light walking again.
