Can breast cysts turn into cancer?

After a recent ultrasound, some cysts were found in my breast. My doctor reassured me that most are harmless, but I'm concerned if these cysts have the potential to turn into cancer over time.

Simple cysts are usually fluid-filled and non-cancerous, but sometimes a complex cyst can hide other issues. I had a cyst that turned out to have atypical cells after a biopsy, so I always tell people to get them scanned. Please see a breast specialist to be absolutely certain.

Generally, simple cysts do not turn into cancer, as they are just fluid sacs. Keeping a healthy lifestyle can help with general breast health, but if you feel a hard lump or any changes, please do not rely on home tips. Go get an ultrasound done by a doctor.

I was just diagnosed with two small cysts and my anxiety is through the roof right now. Has anyone else here had cysts for years without them changing into anything bad? I am so worried I can't even focus on work.

I remember the absolute panic I felt when my doctor told me I had breast cysts; I couldn't stop crying thinking it was cancer. Thankfully, simple cysts are benign and almost never turn cancerous. It's totally okay to feel scared, but a quick ultrasound will reassure you.

Simple breast cysts are completely benign and do not turn into cancer, period. There is no need to panic over nothing. Just get an ultrasound done to confirm it's a simple fluid cyst and follow your doctor's basic advice.
