Can bowel obstruction cause back pain?

My father has been having some bowel issues and recently developed very severe back pain that just won't go away. We're wondering if these two things could be connected. Can a bowel obstruction cause back pain?

Oh my god, I have been feeling this constant dull ache in my lower back along with severe bloating. I am so scared it might be a blockage. Has anyone else felt back pain like this when they were severely constipated? Pls let me know.

Yes, a bowel obstruction can definitely cause referred back pain. When the intestines are blocked and get bloated with gas and waste, they press against the nerves in your back. Since this is a serious condition, please see a doctor immediately.

I have been having terrible constipation along with lower back pain for two days. Could this be a sign of obstruction, or is it just normal back ache? I am a bit hesitant to go to the hospital alone, so any advice is helpful.

Yes, it can. The intense bloating and pressure inside the abdomen often feel like a deep, aching back pain, so please get it checked by a doctor soon.

Because of my high BP, I have to be very careful with internal strain and stress. Bowel blockages can cause severe abdominal pressure that radiates to the back. Do not delay getting a proper medical checkup and keeping your vitals monitored.

Yes, the anatomical pressure from a blocked bowel can definitely radiate pain to your lower back. I track my symptoms regularly on my health app and noticed this connection during severe digestive issues. If you suspect an obstruction, please seek professional medical care right away.
