Can blow drying cause dandruff?

I started blow-drying my hair almost every day recently, and now I have a lot of dandruff. I never had this issue before. Can blow-drying hair actually cause dandruff?

It can dry out your scalp a lot, which looks like flakes, but actual dandruff is usually due to a fungus or oil buildup. Try keeping the dryer on a cool setting and see if it helps. Take care.

I blow dry my hair daily before heading to office, and yes, the heat dries out the scalp leading to flaking. Try using a heat protectant and limit the hot setting. If it's persistent, a quick medicated shampoo works best.

Look, blow drying too close to your head will dry your scalp and cause peeling skin, which people mistake for dandruff. Stop using high heat every day. Let your hair air dry naturally sometimes, it is much healthier.

I ignored my dry scalp from regular blow drying and it turned into a severe fungal infection that caused hair loss. Please be careful with heat styling. If you notice thick crusty patches, consult a dermatologist instead of self-treating.

Actually, blow drying too much just fries your scalp, yaar. It is not real dandruff, just dead skin because of the extreme heat. I switched to air drying on weekends and my scalp feels so much better now.

Actually, my trichologist told me that blow drying doesn't create the Malassezia fungus that causes real dandruff. However, the heat dehydrates your scalp, making it flaky and irritated, which mimics dandruff. She suggested using a diffuser on low heat.

While blow drying doesn't directly cause clinical dandruff, the heat strips natural oils, causing dry skin flaking. True dandruff is microbial. It is best to consult a dermatologist to understand your specific scalp type.

I used to blame my blow dryer for dry scalp and hair fall, but it turned out my thyroid levels were completely off. If you are facing severe scalp issues, please get a thyroid profile test done. A regular doctor visit is always safe.

Haan na, heat se scalp bohot dry ho jata hai aur fir flaky skin nikalti hai. I stopped using the hair dryer on high heat and started applying light aloe vera gel. Mere scalp ke liye toh bohot farak pad gaya usse.

Yes, extreme heat definitely dries the scalp and causes flaking. Try using a colder setting on your hair dryer to prevent this.
