Can blood pressure medicine cause weight loss?

Since starting my blood pressure medication a few weeks ago, I've actually lost a couple of kilos. I wasn't expecting this at all. Can blood pressure medicine really cause weight loss as a side effect?

Please be very careful with sudden weight changes while on BP meds. I ignored my sudden weight drop thinking it was just diet, but it turned out to be an adverse drug reaction that affected my kidneys. Better to see your doctor immediately and get it evaluated.

Actually, some beta blockers can do the opposite and cause weight gain, yaar. If you are suddenly losing weight, it might be due to something else or some fluid loss. Best is to check with your doctor once rather than guessing.

Usually, BP medicines are not meant for weight loss, but some water tablets might make you shed water weight. I always get my routine checkups done every three months and keep my doctor updated. Make sure you also focus on healthy eating and daily walks.

Sudden weight loss can also be related to thyroid issues like hyperthyroidism. I faced a similar situation where my weight dropped fast while taking my BP pills, but the thyroid tests revealed the real culprit. Get a full blood test done and consult your doctor.

Hey, my uncle had a similar issue where he lost a bit of weight after starting new BP meds. We later found out it was mostly water weight loss. Pls don't change any doses on your own and just talk to your doctor about it.
