Can biting nails cause cancer?

I've been biting my nails since childhood, and recently a friend joked that it could give me cancer. While I know it's a bad habit, I'm now actually wondering if there's any truth to his comment. Can something like nail biting really cause cancer?

Haan na, some online articles show such scary things! Biting nails doesn't cause cancer directly, but it can lead to bad infections, ho na? Best to avoid it.

I developed a really severe nail bed infection from biting them, which required a minor surgical procedure to drain. It is not something to take lightly. If you have any non-healing wounds or lumps on your fingers, please see a doctor.

Actually, it is highly unlikely to cause cancer, yaar. But you can get some really nasty stomach bugs from all the dirt under your nails. Just try using a bitter nail polish to quit.

I was actually looking this up because I have a bad habit of biting my nails. Turns out, unless there's a chronic, untreated infection or major tissue damage over years, it doesn't cause cancer. But yeah, the germs are still gross!

Bro, instead of biting your nails, keep your mouth busy with some peanuts or chips! It is a much tastier way to handle the stress, and your fingers will thank you.
