Can being scared of constipation pain make it hurt worse?

I often get severe pain during constipation, and honestly, I'm quite scared of it, which makes me dread going to the washroom. Does this fear and anxiety about the pain actually make the experience even more painful?

Haan babu, jab hum darr jaate hain to hamara shareer bilkul tight ho jata hai. Is darr se pet saaf hone mein aur dikkat hoti hai aur dard badh jata hai. Bilkul chinta mat karo, dhaan se saans lo aur thoda gunguna pani piyo, sab theek hoga.

Yes, anxiety actually tenses up your pelvic floor muscles, which makes passing stool even harder and more painful. It's a mental block that physically affects your body. Try to stay relaxed, focus on your breathing, and make sure you're getting enough hydration and movement.

While stress does tighten your muscles, don't rely on random relaxation hacks if you are in severe pain. If passing stool is extremely painful or if there is bleeding, you need to verify the cause with a doctor instead of just trying to calm your mind.

There is a strong gut-brain connection, and anxiety can indeed cause muscle guarding, which intensifies the perception of pain and hinders bowel movements. If you are experiencing chronic painful constipation, consulting a gastroenterologist is highly recommended to address the physical cause safely.

Absolutely true. Stress and fear cause your muscles to contract, making the pain worse. Taking a mild doctor-approved laxative can help ease the physical struggle.

Oh man, the fear of that morning pain is real when you've had too much dry or heavy food the night before! That stress definitely tenses you up. I just drink a huge glass of warm water and try to relax. Maybe add more fiber-rich delicious fruits like papaya to your diet!
