Can being overweight cause lower back pain?

My lower back has been hurting a lot after long hours at work, and I'm also on the heavier side. Does carrying extra weight put more strain on the lower back and cause this kind of pain?

Yes, absolutely! Carrying extra weight puts a lot of strain on your spine and lower back muscles. But don't worry, starting with gentle daily walks and basic core stretches can really help ease the pressure. You will start feeling lighter and better very soon!

While weight is a common contributor to lower back strain, you must get it checked by a specialist to rule out any nerve compression or disc issues. It is not safe to start any intense exercise program for weight loss while you are in active pain without professional medical advice.

Indeed, excess weight puts a heavy load on the lower back. I suffered from this alongside high blood pressure, and managing my weight through proper diet and lifestyle changes was the only way to get relief. Regular checkups help track your progress safely.

My lower back definitely files a complaint every time I eat an extra paratha! It's just physics, carrying a heavy backpack in the front is bound to hurt your back. Losing even a little bit of weight makes a massive difference, trust me.

Yes, extra body weight increases systemic inflammation and strain on the joints. I managed to relieve my back pain by switching to an anti-inflammatory, fiber-rich vegetarian diet which helped me shed the extra kilos naturally. Always consult a nutritionist or doctor to plan your meals.
