Can being overweight cause back pain?

I've been having quite severe lower back pain for a few months now, and I'm also a bit overweight. Could my weight be a major factor contributing to this constant backache?

Yes, carrying extra weight puts a lot of load on your spine, which causes chronic back pain. I have faced both high BP and back issues due to my weight. Regular lifestyle modifications, mild walking, and doctor-approved exercises have helped me a lot. Get a general health checkup done.

Honestly same here, I gained like 10 kgs during my exams from sitting all day and my lower back started hurting so bad. My doctor told me it's because our core muscles get weak when we are inactive and carrying extra weight. Trying to walk more now.

Arey, at our age, even sleeping in the wrong posture causes back pain, so extra weight definitely makes it worse! My spine feels like it is carrying a sack of potatoes all day. Losing even 3-4 kgs helped ease the pressure on my lower back significantly.

My teenage son had severe back pain last year due to sudden weight gain and sitting for online classes. We consulted a physiotherapist who gave him specific back-strengthening exercises and helped him correct his posture. It really helped him recover, so do seek professional advice.

Yes, absolutely! The extra weight shifts our body's center of gravity and strains the lower back muscles. But don't feel discouraged, starting with simple daily stretches and short walks can work wonders to strengthen your back. Keep going, small steps matter!

I totally get it, living with constant back pain while trying to manage your weight is incredibly difficult and exhausting. The extra load on the joints really takes a toll on the lower back. Please be gentle with yourself and try some physiotherapy under professional guidance.

Please be very careful with back pain. I ignored my backache, thinking it was just because of my weight, but it turned out to be a herniated disc that got severely compressed. I highly recommend seeing an orthopedist to get a proper diagnosis before starting any exercise routine.

Bro, yes, 100%. I used to weigh 95 kgs and my lower back was constantly stiff and painful. Once I started losing weight and strengthened my core, the pain literally vanished. It's just too much load for the spine to carry daily.
