Can bad shoes cause back pain?

Recently bought a new pair of flats, and since then, my lower back has been acting up. My mother told me it could be because of bad footwear. Can wearing uncomfortable or unsupportive shoes really lead to back pain?

Oh, absolutely. Many people don't realize that our feet are the foundation of our entire body. If your shoes don't have proper arch support or cushioning, it completely throws off your walking alignment and puts pressure on your lower back. Trying changing to supportive footwear for a week and see the difference.

I deal with chronic body aches due to my PCOS, and I've noticed that wearing flat sandals makes my back pain much worse. I am not an expert, but shifting to comfortable shoes with a slight cushion helped me manage it a bit. It might be worth trying out, along with a doctor's advice.

Beta, in my youth I used to wear any cheap footwear, but as you age, your spine tells you the truth. Flat shoes or heavy boots ruin your posture and shock your lower back with every step. Spend a little extra on comfortable orthopedic shoes, your back will thank you in your old age.

I had severe lower back pain for six months and realized it was my flat office heels causing it. My advice is to switch to shoes with a slightly raised heel or use custom gel insoles. Also, avoid walking barefoot on hard tiled floors at home—wear soft house slippers instead.

Medically, bad shoes alter your gait, which transfers the impact of walking straight up to your knees and lumbar spine. Look for shoes with good arch support and flexible soles. If changing your shoes doesn't reduce your back pain in a couple of weeks, please consult an orthopedician.

Yes, poor foot support forces your spine out of alignment. If you are standing or walking a lot during your commute, stop wearing flats or cheap formal shoes. Buy a pair of shoes with good shock absorption today; it is a simple fix that saves a lot of medical bills later.

Actually yes, yaar. I was wearing flat slip-ons for my daily train travel and my lower back started hurting like crazy. The moment I shifted to good running shoes with decent sole support, the pain just vanished. Don't compromise on footwear quality, it is so important.
