Can bad liver cause bad breath?

My friend, who has some liver problems, has started having really bad breath lately. I was wondering if a poorly functioning liver can actually be the cause of persistent bad breath.

Arey, at this age, every body part seems to have its own issue! But yes, doctors call it 'fetor hepaticus' where a struggling liver makes your breath smell a bit sweetish-musty. Better to get a simple LFT test done instead of just chewing more elaichi, trust me.

Yes, actually it can. A damaged liver can sometimes cause a very sweet or musty smell in the breath.

It can. When the liver isn't filtering toxins properly, those compounds enter your bloodstream and exit through your lungs, causing a distinct smell. I tracked my digestion and liver health on an app recently and learned how connected they are. Definitely check with a doctor if you are noticing this consistently.

Usually, drinking warm water with lemon or chewing fennel seeds helps with normal bad breath from digestion. But if it is indeed a liver issue, these home remedies won't fix the root cause. Please do not ignore it and get a proper medical opinion from a doctor.

Actually yes, yaar. If the liver is not doing its job properly, toxins build up and it can smell really weird, almost like musty raw eggs or something. Don't panic, but maybe skip the heavy junk food for a few days and get a quick doc checkup done just to be safe.

I had this exact issue last year during my jaundice recovery. No matter how much I brushed or used mouthwash, the weird musty smell wouldn't go. Once my liver enzymes came back to normal after proper treatment and diet, the bad breath disappeared completely.

My brother went through this when he had severe fatty liver issues, his breath had a very different, heavy smell. We first thought it was just poor dental hygiene, but the doctor caught it during a routine checkup. Please get a proper blood test done for peace of mind.
