Can bad kidney cause back pain?

My sister has kidney issues, and she often complains of a dull ache in her lower back. I've heard that kidney problems can cause back pain. Is it true that a bad kidney can be the reason for back discomfort?

Oh god, I went through this exact scare last month! My lower back was hurting so badly on one side and I immediately googled and panicked thinking my kidneys were failing. Turns out it was just a severe muscle catch from sitting badly. Rest up and try to drink enough water, but don't stress yourself out too much.

It is actually possible, but kidney pain is usually located higher up on the back, just under the ribs. Instead of wasting time guessing, just get a quick urine routine test and an ultrasound done. It hardly takes half an hour and saves so much unnecessary mental stress.

I totally get it, back pain is so frustrating and when you start thinking it might be a kidney issue, the anxiety just doubles up. Usually kidney pain is deeper and doesn't change when you stretch or move around. Please take care of yourself and don't hesitate to check in with a doctor if the pain is constant.

Hey, as a thumb rule, if the pain gets worse when you bend, twist, or walk, it is mostly a muscular back pain. Kidney pain is typically a constant, dull ache that might also come with fever or burning while peeing. If you notice any of those urinary symptoms, please see a doctor soon.

Actually yes, I had this last week. It was a dull ache on my right side that wasn't going away with balm or rest. Finally went to the doc and found out it was a small kidney stone causing the back ache. Got some fluids and meds, and now I am absolutely fine, so do get it checked.

Look, instead of worrying, just get a basic KFT (Kidney Function Test) and a urine analysis. It costs around 500 to 800 rupees maximum in most local labs. Getting these basic reports ready before you visit a doctor will save you a second consultation fee anyway.

My mother always says to drink barley water and tender coconut to clear out any kidney heat and pain. But honestly, if the pain is severe, it is always best to visit a doctor and get a proper diagnosis. Calm down, drink some warm water, and make an appointment.

Agreed with the others here. Just wanted to add that keeping an eye on your urine color helps—if it is too dark or cloudy, that's a clear sign to visit a clinic.

Beta, at my age, we have seen all kinds of backaches and health scares. Yes, severe kidney issues can cause back pain, but it usually comes with other signs like swelling in your feet or changes in urination. Don't let your mind run wild; go see a family doctor and let them guide you.

My teenage son had severe back pain last year and I was so worried it was his kidneys because he barely drinks water. The doctor did a quick physical touch check on his back and said it was just a muscle spasm from football. Just make sure you are drinking enough water ghar pe, but do show a doctor to be safe.

I completely understand the anxiety you are feeling right now, I couldn't sleep for three nights thinking my kidneys were failing when my back started aching. The mental stress of not knowing is actually worse than the physical pain. Please don't suffer alone, talk to a doctor so you can get some peace of mind.

Hey there! Don't jump to the worst conclusion yet! 90% of the time it is just our bad sitting posture or a simple muscle pull from lifting something heavy. Drink plenty of water and give your back some rest today! 🌸
