Can back pain cause headaches?

I've been dealing with tension headaches much more frequently, and I also have a constant ache in my neck and upper back. I'm wondering if the back pain could be triggering my headaches. Is there a connection?

Yes, absolutely. If your upper back and neck are stiff as a board, the tension travels straight to your head and causes a nasty headache. Fix your posture, stop slouching over your laptop, and the headache will go.

In our days, we used to apply warm mustard oil with garlic on the neck and back when a headache started. It releases the muscle tension. But do not massage too hard, and rest on a flat bed.

Haan na, neck aur upper back pain se head mein tension headache hota hi hai. Mere sath bhi aisa bohot hota hai jab main desk pe der tak baithti hoon. Thoda balm lagake rest karo, thik ho jayega.

Upper back strain and tension headaches are closely linked due to the nerves in the cervical spine. I went to a specialist hospital for this, and they recommended targeted physiotherapy. Ask your doctor clearly for a proper diagnosis.

While tension from the back can cause headaches, it is always safer to get it evaluated by a doctor. Especially if the headache is severe or accompanied by blurry vision. Better to be safe than sorry.

This is very common if you work long hours on a computer. Just buy an ergonomic chair or put a small cushion behind your lower back. Taking a 5-minute walking break every hour works wonders for both back and head pain.

Yes, neck and back stiffness often travel upwards to cause headaches. Take some rest, lie down without a pillow for a bit, and hopefully, you will feel better soon.

Please get it checked. I ignored my upper back pain and constant headaches thinking it was just work stress, but it turned out to be a severe cervical disc bulge. Early treatment would have saved me months of pain.

I have been getting these mild headaches along with lower back stiffness recently. I didn't know they could be related. Does doing basic yoga stretches help with this, or should I see a physician first?

Oh yes, they are best friends! 😅 A stiff upper back pulls on your neck muscles, which leads straight to tension headaches. A warm bath and a little stretching can make you feel so much better! 💕

My grandmother used to suggest ginger tea for this, but our family doctor explained that neck nerve compression is the real cause of such headaches. I suggest consulting an orthopedic doctor to get the right treatment.

I was just reading a study about 'referred pain' where muscle knots in the trapezius muscle of the back actually cause throbbing head pain. It is fascinating how connected our body parts are!
