Can babies get dandruff?

My newborn is a few weeks old, and I've noticed some flaky patches on her scalp. It looks a lot like dandruff, but I didn't think babies could get it. Can babies really have dandruff?

Yes, they can, but don't rush to buy expensive baby shampoos or medical treatments. Most of the time it is just cradle cap, which goes away on its own. You can easily manage it at home with a little olive oil and a soft brush, saving you unnecessary expenses.

My niece had this dry flaky head and we used to joke that she has her dad's dry skin! It's actually cradle cap, not regular dandruff. Just apply a little bit of mild coconut oil before her bath and it should clear up easily.

Haan na, babies can get these dry yellow flakes on their head. It looks like dandruff but actually it is cradle cap. Just apply sweet almond oil gently before bath and wash it off, it will go away slowly.

I panicked so much when I saw yellow, flaky patches on my newborn's scalp, thinking it was a severe infection. But my pediatrician told me it's just cradle cap and completely normal. It went away in a few weeks with gentle oiling and washing, so don't worry at all!

Between getting two hours of sleep and changing endless diapers, I noticed my baby had these flakes on his head. I thought my exhaustion was making me hallucinate dandruff on a baby! Turns out it is just cradle cap, completely harmless and very easy to clean.
