Can asthma go away?

I had asthma as a kid, but for many years now, I haven't had any symptoms or needed my inhaler. My parents always said I grew out of it. Does asthma ever truly go away completely, or is it always there?

Humare yahan kehte hain ki bachpan ka asthma badhti umar ke saath apne aap theek ho jata hai. Par bade hone par kabhi-kabhi wapas bhi aa sakta hai. Aap ek baar sheher ke badhiya doctor ko dikha lijiye, woh sab sahi batayenge.

Honestly, my childhood asthma literally vanished when I hit my teens. I haven't used an inhaler in like six years now. But my doc said it can still be there dormant, so I try to stay careful when it is too dusty or cold.

My son had severe wheezing when he was five, but now at twelve, he is much better and rarely needs medication. The doctor told us that children often outgrow it, but we still keep a rescue inhaler at home just in case. Do consult your pediatrician.

Please do not assume your asthma has gone away on its own just because you haven't had an attack recently. It can be triggered suddenly by pollution or a cold. It is always safest to get your lungs regularly checked by a specialist.

I keep hoping my asthma will just go away permanently, but every winter it seems to come back. Has anyone actually had it completely cured as an adult? I get so anxious thinking I have to use inhalers my whole life.

I always worry that even if my breathing feels fine today, a sudden attack might happen tomorrow. My doctor says it can go dormant for years, which is reassuring but still makes me nervous. Just stay in touch with your doctor so you always feel prepared.

Consult a pulmonologist

I went to a reputed chest hospital last year and the doctors explained that asthma is a chronic condition that can go into remission, but doesn't completely vanish. You must ask your pulmonologist clearly about your lung health and follow their advice.

I wish asthma would pack its bags and leave permanently, but it is like that one annoying relative who stays dormant and then visits during winter! 😂 Jokes aside, it can go quiet for years, but keeping your inhaler ready is always smart.

Well, my doctor said it doesn't completely go away, but it can become very mild. I still have to be a bit careful with ice-creams in winter, but otherwise, I eat whatever I want now! Just get a professional medical opinion on how to manage your triggers.

While asthma doesn't have a permanent cure, it can definitely go into long periods of remission. I use a health tracker to monitor my heart rate and sleep patterns, and managing my triggers has kept me symptom-free for years. Definitely discuss a long-term management plan with your doctor.
