Can asthma cough cause vomiting?

My daughter has asthma, and sometimes her coughing fits are so intense that she gags and even throws up a little. It's really concerning to watch. Can an asthma cough become so severe that it causes vomiting?

Yes, I have seen this happen quite often with kids and even adults during bad phases. When you cough continuously, the pressure triggers the vomiting reflex. The key is to manage the cough itself, so please check with your doctor if the inhaler dose needs to be adjusted.

Haan na, actually this happens a lot when the cough is very heavy. Mere bhai ko bhi jab asthma attack aata hai, he starts throwing up because of the constant coughing pressure. Thoda garam paani piyo aur jaldi se doc ko dikhao, please self-medicate mat karna.

I have dealt with this myself during peak winters. When the chest congestion is high, a severe coughing fit almost always triggers a gag reflex. My doctor changed my preventative inhaler, and that was the only thing that actually stopped it. Get your prescription reviewed.

If the cough is very dry, sipping warm water with a little honey might help soothe the throat temporarily. But honestly, if the coughing is so bad that it is making you vomit, it is a serious sign. You must consult your doctor immediately to get the right asthma treatment.

Wait, does this happen to others too? I literally threw up last night after a massive coughing fit and got so scared. Is it just the physical strain of coughing or is my asthma getting worse? Pls let me know, I'm planning to call my doctor today.
