Can asthma cause lung scarring?

My uncle has had asthma since childhood, and recently he was told he has some lung damage. I've been diagnosed with asthma too, and I'm quite worried about it. Can asthma actually cause scarring in the lungs over time?

Haan, agar severe asthma bohot saalon tak uncontrolled rahe, toh chronic inflammation se lung tissues mein thoda scarring ya airway remodeling ho sakta hai na. Isliye kehte hain inhalers skip mat kiya karo.

I almost had a breakdown when my doctor mentioned 'airway remodeling' on my report, thinking my lungs were permanently ruined. But he reassured me that with proper daily preventer inhalers, we can easily stop it from getting worse and live normally.

To keep lung capacity strong and prevent stiffening from any tissue changes, I focus on light swimming and regular walking. Obviously, check with your doctor first, but staying active is super crucial for asthma-prone lungs.

Severe coughing and inflammation do strain the lungs over time. Besides your regular medical pumps, doing gentle pranayama daily in clean air and taking warm turmeric milk really helps soothe my chest irritation.

The simple solution is to get a spirometry or lung function test done once a year to track any tissue changes. It doesn't cost much and gives your pulmonologist the exact data needed to adjust your dosage.
