Can asthma attack cause vomiting?

I have asthma, and sometimes after a really coughing fit during an attack, I feel nauseous and might even throw up. Is this connected to the asthma itself? Can an asthma attack cause vomiting?

Haan na, actually when the coughing gets very severe, it triggers the gag reflex and makes you vomit. Mere bete ko bhi jab severe coughing fits aate hain, he ends up throwing up. It's very scary but quite common, just try to keep them calm and hydrated.

Yes, it can. My pulmonologist explained that during an asthma attack, the constant coughing and the extra air we swallow can put sudden pressure on the stomach, leading to vomiting. Also, some asthma medications or the body's natural stress response can cause nausea. If it happens repeatedly, you must get your medication adjusted by your doctor.

Oh god, I've been there and it is honestly the worst feeling ever. When you are struggling to breathe, the pressure in your chest and tummy just builds up until you throw up. I usually keep a small basin nearby and try to sip warm water slowly once the attack settles. Take care, okay?

Yes, severe coughing during an attack can unfortunately cause vomiting. Please sit upright, rest as much as possible, and consult your doctor to ensure your inhaler routine is working fine.

While coughing fits can physically force a vomit response, persistent vomiting during asthma isn't something to ignore at home. It could lead to dehydration or show that the attack is quite severe. It is always best to let your doctor evaluate the symptoms and guide you on the next steps.
