Can asparagus cause kidney stones?

My doctor recently warned me about kidney stones and told me to watch my diet. I really like asparagus, it's a good green vegetable. But I heard from a relative that eating too much of it can cause kidney stones. Is this true?

Actually, asparagus has purines which can break down into uric acid, but honestly, you have to eat a crazy amount for it to cause issues, yaar. Just have it in normal food quantities and you should be totally fine.

I recently started eating continental salads with asparagus because everyone says it is healthy. But now I am scared about kidney stones. Should I stop eating it completely, or is a small portion okay?

I worry about kidney stones constantly because my father had them and the pain was terrible. I read that asparagus has oxalates and purines, so I completely avoided it. If you already have stone issues, maybe it's safer to check with a doctor first to be absolutely sure.

I completely understand how stressful it is when you read online that a healthy vegetable might cause painful stones. It really makes you second-guess everything you eat. Honestly, for average people, eating it in normal amounts is perfectly safe.

Chill, don't stress too much about it! Unless you are eating asparagus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it won't do anything to your kidneys. Just drink plenty of water throughout the day and enjoy your meals.

I love roasted asparagus with garlic, but I only make it once in a while since it's quite expensive here anyway! Eating it occasionally as a treat won't cause stones. Balance is key, so enjoy your stir-fries without worrying.

As someone who actually had to get a uric acid stone removed last year, I am very cautious now. Certain veggies can trigger them if your body is prone. If you have a family history of stones, please consult a urologist or dietician for a proper food list.
