Yes, severe joint swelling can pinch surrounding nerves, leading to neuropathy symptoms like numbness. I tried massaging with warm mustard oil and taking daily hot water soaks which gave mild relief, but you really need proper medical treatment to reduce the internal inflammation.

While arthritis primarily affects the joints, severe inflammation or bone spurs can compress nearby nerves, causing neuropathic symptoms. It is very important to get a clinical evaluation from a neurologist or orthopedist to address the root cause safely.

Please be very careful because diabetic neuropathy is extremely common, and if you have arthritis too, the nerve issues can compound. Keep a close watch on your sugar levels and diet, and consult your doctor immediately to differentiate between diabetic and arthritic nerve compression.

Yes, joint inflammation can sometimes press on nerves and cause tingling or neuropathy. Please take care and try not to strain that area until you can get it checked by a doctor.

I started feeling numbness in my toes and instantly panicked thinking it was permanent nerve damage from my arthritis. It turns out it can happen due to joint swelling, but my mind still goes to the worst-case scenario. Please get it checked so you don't have to stress like me!
