Can arthritis cause bruising?

Meri saas ko bahut saalon se severe arthritis hai aur ab unke haathon aur pairon mein chote chote neel bhi padne lage hain, bina kisi chot ke. Kya arthritis ki wajah se bruising ho sakti hai?

Arthritis itself doesn't directly cause bruising, but sometimes the medicines we take or lack of certain vitamins can make skin fragile. I try to include plenty of Vitamin C rich foods like amla and citrus fruits in my diet to help strengthen blood vessels. But do mention the bruising to your doctor.

Dekho, direct answer is no, arthritis doesn't cause bruises. But if you are taking painkillers or steroids for your joint pain, those can thin your blood and cause easy bruising. Go check with your doctor immediately and get your blood levels tested.

I asked my doctor about this because I started noticing blue spots on my arms. He explained that some autoimmune types like rheumatoid arthritis can cause blood vessel inflammation, or more commonly, long-term use of NSAID painkillers thins the skin and increases bruising. He adjusted my dosage and it got much better.

It is so frustrating and scary when you suddenly see random bruises on your body along with all the joint pain. I used to cry thinking my body is completely breaking down. You are not alone in this struggle, please talk to your rheumatologist, they will help you find the cause.

Don't go by what people say on internet forums or try random home remedies for bruising. Bruising easily can be a side effect of serious arthritis medications or pointing to a different blood issue altogether. Go to a proper doctor and get your blood count and liver function checked.
