Can apple watch detect sleep apnea?

My husband snores very loudly, and I'm worried he might have sleep apnea. I read that smartwatches can sometimes detect health conditions. Can an Apple Watch detect sleep apnea, or would we need a proper medical test?

The watch can track blood oxygen levels and sleep stages, which might hint at breathing issues, but it cannot formally diagnose sleep apnea. If you are snoring loudly or waking up choking, please get a professional sleep study done at a hospital. It is much safer than relying on a wearable gadget.

Since sleep apnea is often linked with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, managing it properly is very important. While the Apple Watch can show oxygen drops during sleep, it is not a certified medical tool for apnea. You should show those tracking trends to your physician and get a proper clinical test done.

Haan na, sleeping issues are so draining. The Apple Watch shows some breathing disturbances and blood oxygen levels now, but it doesn't give a proper medical report for sleep apnea. It is always better to consult a doctor if you feel tired all day, ho na.

I wear my watch to sleep every night to see my sleep stages, and it's pretty cool, but I don't think it can replace a real doctor. It might show if your oxygen levels went down, but if you're actually gasping for air at night, don't wait for a watch notification. Just go get it checked out properly.

I was researching this online because my dad snores a lot and I wanted to see if gifting him an Apple Watch would help track it. Apparently, the newer series can alert you about breathing disturbances, but it still says you need a doctor's test to confirm. Has anyone actually used the watch data to get a diagnosis?

My teenager was snoring heavily and always tired, and while his smartwatch showed erratic sleep patterns, it didn't give us the full picture. We finally took him to an ENT specialist who diagnosed his sleep apnea properly. Please don't rely only on these gadgets for your family's health, a doctor's advice is necessary.

The latest Apple Watch models have features to track breathing disturbances and FDA-approved notifications for sleep apnea risks. However, this is only meant to be a screening tool, not a diagnostic one. If the watch flags a risk, the best course of action is to share that data with a pulmonologist for a proper clinical evaluation.

Honestly, my Apple Watch just keeps telling me I slept for 4 hours and woke up 15 times, which I already knew because I feel like a zombie! It might show your oxygen levels dipping, but it won't officially diagnose apnea. For that, you actually have to go sleep in a lab with 50 wires stuck to your head.
