Can anxiety cause stomach pain and vomiting?

Whenever I'm feeling very anxious, I often get severe stomach pain and sometimes end up vomiting too. It's quite disruptive. Can anxiety cause both stomach pain and vomiting together?

When we worry, our abdominal muscles contract tightly, disrupting digestion and causing nausea. Doing slow abdominal breathing and Vajrasana after light meals can help soothe the nervous system and quiet the stomach.

Yes, the gut-brain axis means stress directly impacts stomach acid and gut motility. While mild nausea is common with stress, continuous vomiting can lead to dehydration. It is best to consult a doctor to get an accurate diagnosis.

My stomach basically holds a protest rally every time I have a stressful week, leading to acidity and vomiting. I have learned to survive on cold milk and light khichdi during these times. It is just the joy of getting older!

I literally just recovered from a bad phase of anxiety where I couldn't keep food down. Once I started therapy and taking regular, small meals, my stomach settled down. It takes some time but you will recover too.

A little lemon-honey water can help settle a nervous stomach. However, if you are throwing up constantly or have severe abdominal pain, please do not rely only on home tips and go see a doctor immediately.

Ah, the classic butterflies-in-the-stomach turning into angry wasps! It is super common to feel like throwing up when you are stressed out. Keep some mints handy, take deep breaths, and maybe avoid looking at your work emails for an hour!

Beta, when the mind is very troubled, the digestion stops working properly. Try sipping warm ginger or fennel water slowly to soothe the nausea, but do not force yourself to eat heavy foods if you feel like throwing up.

I used to panic and think I had an ulcer every time my stomach hurt from anxiety, which made me throw up even more. Once I realized it was just my nervous system reacting, I calmed down and the symptoms naturally stopped. It is very common, don't worry.

I have tried ginger tea, ajwain water, and everything else for my stress-related vomiting. While those help soothe the stomach, the real solution is managing the anxiety. Try to sit in a quiet room and focus on slow breathing.

I track my gut health and mood on my health app, and there is a direct correlation between my stress levels and nausea. Try logging your symptoms and avoiding greasy food on high-stress days. Drinking ORS can help with the dehydration.

Stomach pain and vomiting can also be signs of food poisoning, appendicitis, or a severe infection. Please do not blame it all on anxiety. It is much safer to visit a doctor or a hospital clinic to get properly evaluated.

Yes, anxiety can definitely cause stomach distress and vomiting. Sipping cold water slowly helped me quiet my stomach when I felt like this.
