Can anxiety cause gagging and vomiting?

Before important meetings or presentations, I often start gagging and sometimes even vomit due to nerves. It's very embarrassing and disruptive. Is it possible that my anxiety causes this gagging and vomiting?

As someone who manages high blood pressure, I know how physical stress and anxiety can severely affect your stomach and cause gagging. Stress triggers a lot of acid reflux, which can make you throw up. Please get your BP checked and consult your doctor to manage these symptoms safely.

Honestly, when I'm running on just 4 hours of sleep and high anxiety, my morning routine literally starts with gagging over the sink. It's like my body's dramatic way of saying it can't handle the stress. Make sure to get some sleep, but definitely see a doctor if you can't keep any food down.

Vomiting and gagging from anxiety can quickly lead to dehydration and mess up your blood glucose levels, which is quite risky. It is important to eat small, bland meals and keep yourself hydrated with water. Please consult your physician to address this before it affects your overall health.

I can only speak from my own experience, but during my worst periods of panic, I would constantly gag and feel like throwing up. It was incredibly uncomfortable, but the doctor told me my stomach was physically fine and it was just a severe stress response. It helped me to focus on deep breathing.

Sipping on some warm ginger tea or sucking on a piece of amla can help soothe that intense gagging feeling in your throat. However, if you are actually vomiting regularly, home tips are not enough and you could get dehydrated. Please consult a doctor to get proper medical advice.
