Can antibiotics treat malaria?

My friend was recently diagnosed with malaria and got a prescription for some medicines. My mother was saying antibiotics are used for malaria, but I thought it was for bacterial infections. Can someone clarify this, please?

When I was diagnosed with malaria, I was so overwhelmed and terrified by the high shivering fevers. I thought normal antibiotics would work, but my doctor explained that malaria is caused by a parasite, not bacteria, so it needs very specific antimalarial drugs. Please don't self-medicate, it is really stressful.

I totally panicked when my doctor prescribed an antibiotic-like drug for my malaria, thinking he made a mistake. But he reassured me that certain antibiotics like doxycycline are actually used alongside antimalarials to kill the parasite. It's completely normal, so trust your prescription!

Malaria completely wiped out my taste buds last year! While you need the proper antimalarial course from a clinic, make sure to eat light foods like khichdi and fresh coconut water to keep your strength up for the recovery.

Since malaria is a parasite infection, standard antibiotics don't work the same way. With my PCOS, I am always extra careful about taking the correct targeted medicines to avoid messing up my system. Please consult a doctor for the exact antimalarial protocol.

Trying to sleep with malaria chills is a joke, I spent nights shivering under three blankets. Just FYI, standard bacteria-killing antibiotics won't touch malaria unless specified by a doc as a combo treatment. Get the right blood test done first.
