Can antibiotics cause vomiting?

A new course of antibiotics is due soon, but last time I took them, they made me feel really sick and I vomited. Is vomiting a common side effect of antibiotics?

With my PCOS, my stomach is already very sensitive to medications, and antibiotics always make me super nauseous. I try not to panic and eat a small, plain meal before the tablet. It helps, but definitely check with your doctor if you can't keep anything down.

Our bodies sometimes react strongly when cleansing out infections. Stay calm, drink some warm water, and let your body rest. Healing takes its own time, so treat yourself with gentle kindness during this phase.

Bro, yes! I literally threw up my breakfast last week after taking my antibiotic dose. My mom told me never to take it on an empty stomach, and honestly, having a toast before it made a huge difference.

I completely understand how scary it feels when you start vomiting after taking a prescribed pill. I used to get major panic attacks thinking my body was rejecting the medicine. It is actually a very common reaction, so try to take deep breaths; you are going to be fine.

Oh dear, vomiting is the absolute worst, I feel you. Don't stress too much, it is just the medicine acting up in your tummy. Just lie down, sip some clear fluids slowly, and you will feel better soon!

Happened to me last month when I had a throat infection. The heavy dose just rejected immediately. I asked my doc and he gave me a small gas tablet to take 30 mins before the antibiotic, which stopped the puking completely.

I totally get it, vomiting makes you feel so weak and miserable when you are already sick. It's just awful. Please don't force yourself to eat heavy meals right now, just stick to light khichdi and small sips of water.

Standard issue with high-dose antibiotics. Just ask your doctor to prescribe an antacid or Pantocid to take in the morning. It keeps the acid levels in check and prevents vomiting.

Vomiting is a recognized side effect of oral antibiotics because they irritate the gastric lining. However, if you throw up within 30 minutes of taking the pill, the medicine might not have been absorbed. Please consult your doctor for an alternative or an anti-nausea prescription.

I was just reading up on this because my cousin is facing the same issue. Apparently, antibiotics alter the gut microbiome very rapidly, which triggers the brain's vomiting center. It's crazy how much our gut controls our system.

I remember crying and calling my doctor late at night because I threw up twice after my pills. He laughed gently and told me it is extremely normal because the pills are very strong. Once I finished the course, the vomiting stopped completely, so don't worry.

Yes, they can make your stomach very weak. Please rest as much as you can and drink lime water with a pinch of salt to feel better.
