Can an underactive thyroid cause palpitations?

Having been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) a few months ago, I've been taking medication. Lately, I've noticed occasional heart palpitations, which are quite unsettling. Is it possible for an underactive thyroid to cause these palpitations?

Even though palpitations are more common with an overactive thyroid, they can actually happen with an underactive thyroid too, especially when you start medication. I tried drinking coriander seed water and various home remedies for my symptoms, but honestly, nothing works like getting your TSH levels checked. Go to a doctor and adjust your dosage.

I get so panicked whenever my heart starts racing, it's the worst feeling. Actually, changes in thyroid hormone levels can definitely affect your heart rate and cause palpitations. Please don't stress too much, but do get a thyroid panel test done to see what is happening.

Having PCOS has taught me how much hormones can mess with your body, and yes, thyroid issues can also cause heart palpitations. It's best not to self-diagnose or guess the reason. Please consult an endocrinologist to get your T3, T4, and TSH levels checked safely.

Yes, an underactive thyroid can impact your heart rhythm, especially if your medication dose is too high or too low. If your doctor allows it, keeping up with light daily walks can help manage stress and overall cardiovascular health. Make sure you check your thyroid levels first before starting any new routine.

Yes, thyroid imbalances definitely cause palpitations. Please get a simple blood test done to check your TSH levels as soon as possible.

I used to think my heart palpitations were just from drinking too much coffee or overeating spicy street food, but it can totally be connected to thyroid fluctuations. It's a good idea to lay off heavy caffeine for a bit and get your blood levels checked by a doctor.
