Can an orthopedic doctor diagnose arthritis?

My knees have been aching terribly lately, and my family doctor thinks it might be arthritis. She suggested seeing a specialist. I'm wondering, is an orthopedic doctor the right person to diagnose and treat arthritis, or should I look for someone else?

Haan, bilkul kar sakte hain! Orthopedic doctors toh bone aur joint specialists hi hote hain na. Woh log X-ray ya blood test karwake turant bata denge ki kaunsa arthritis hai. Der mat karo, dikha lo ek baar.

I have been having stiff fingers every morning and I am so worried it's rheumatoid arthritis. Should I go to an orthopedic doctor first, or a rheumatologist? I'm really confused and a bit scared of getting the wrong diagnosis.

My mother had severe knee pain and we took her to an orthopedic surgeon who diagnosed her osteoarthritis after an X-ray. He suggested some exercises and knee care tips which really helped. That was just our experience, so it might work for you too.

We went to Aster Medcity for my dad's joint issues and the orthopedic department was excellent in diagnosing his condition. They will run blood tests to check for inflammatory markers and do X-rays. Just ask your doctor clearly about the difference between wear-and-tear arthritis and autoimmune types.

Please go get a checkup immediately. I ignored my dull joint pain for over a year thinking it was just weakness, and by the time I saw an ortho, my joint damage had progressed. An orthopedic doctor can easily diagnose it and start treatment, so don't delay like I did.

I am also starting to get some pain in my ankles recently. Can an orthopedic doctor also help with foot pain, or do I need to see someone else? I'm a bit nervous about visiting a big hospital alone.

Yes, an ortho will do a physical exam and scans to check your joints. Once they diagnose you, ask them what kind of light walking or low-impact exercises you can do. Keeping your muscles active is super important to support those joints, provided your doctor clears it.
