Can an eye doctor tell if you have diabetes?

My brother's sugar levels have been a bit high lately, and he's due for an eye check-up soon. Someone told us that an eye doctor can sometimes see signs of diabetes in the eyes. Is this true? Can they tell if you have diabetes just by looking?

Yes, they absolutely can. My father ignored his mild vision changes, and during a routine eye checkup, the doctor noticed diabetic retinopathy changes in his retina. Please take eye exams seriously and see a retina specialist if your blood sugar is high.

They really do have superpowers! They look straight into the back of your eye and can see your blood vessel health before you even realize you've had too many sweets. It's like having a window into your entire body's secrets.

During my mom's regular eye testing for new glasses, the doctor noticed tiny hemorrhages in her eye. He advised us to get her blood sugar checked immediately, and that's how we found out she had border-line diabetes. It was a very timely discovery.

Yes, they can catch it very early. I've been managing diabetes for ten years, and my eye doctor is the one who monitors my retinal health annually to prevent vision loss. My tip is to always get a dilated eye exam done once a year if you are diabetic.

I can barely see my computer screen by the end of the day, but yes, eye doctors can definitely spot diabetes. They look at your retinal blood vessels and can tell if high blood sugar is causing damage. It's amazing what they can see while we are just struggling to read the chart.

Our blood vessels suffer when we don't manage our lifestyle and insulin levels. An eye doctor can see that vascular damage very easily. Regular exercise and a balanced diet keep your blood sugar in check, which directly protects your vision from diabetic damage.

Haan na, they can actually find out very easily during a routine scan. My cousin went for simple dry eyes and the doctor told her to check her sugar levels immediately. It is better to get your eyes tested yearly, safe rehte hain.

When I visited a reputed eye hospital last year, they did a dilated fundus exam which is highly detailed. The doctor explained clearly how diabetes damages the tiny capillaries in the eye. Always ask your ophthalmologist to explain the state of your retina clearly during your checkup.

Yes, an optometrist or ophthalmologist can detect early signs of diabetes by looking at the blood vessels in your retina. If they notice any leakage or swelling, they will immediately ask you to do an HbA1c test. It shows how closely our diet and blood health are linked to our eyes.

I was researching about health hacks and was amazed to learn that the eye is the only place where doctors can directly see live blood vessels. It makes total sense that they can spot diabetes or even high BP just by looking in there. Pretty fascinating honestly.
