Can an enlarged prostate cause erectile dysfunction?

I'm 70 years old and have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, which causes frequent urination. I've also noticed difficulties with erectile function lately. Could my enlarged prostate be the reason for these erectile issues?

Yes, there is a strong clinical link between benign prostatic hyperplasia and erectile issues. Often, the medications used to treat an enlarged prostate can also contribute to this. It is highly recommended to consult a urologist who can balance both treatments safely.

In my late 50s, I faced a similar worry when my prostate got enlarged. I was very hesitant to discuss it, but my doctor reassured me that it is quite common at our age. Once we adjusted my therapy, things improved significantly, so please don't lose hope.

Though my primary issue is thyroid, I know that chronic hormonal or glandular issues like an enlarged prostate affect overall intimate health. You should get regular PSA blood tests done and keep your urologist updated on any new symptoms you face.

Man, as if getting older and losing sleep wasn't enough, we have to worry about these plumbing issues too. But yes, the nerves and blood vessels are all in the same tight area, so an enlarged prostate can definitely cause performance issues. Best to get it checked instead of stressing all night.

Look, there is no need to feel shy about this. The prostate gland sits right next to the nerves that control everything, so swelling will obviously cause issues. Go to a good urologist directly instead of trying random self-treatments.

Hey bro, my uncle had this exact issue last year. He was super stressed, but the doctor explained that the swollen prostate puts pressure on the surrounding nerves. He got some proper meds and is absolutely fine now, so don't ignore it.

According to the urologist I consulted, the two conditions often share common pathways like pelvic inflammation and poor blood flow. He mentioned that some prostate medications like alpha-blockers or 5-ARIs can also impact erectile function. It is crucial to have an open discussion with your doctor about these side effects.
