Can an ekg miss a heart attack?

My father had an EKG done a few months ago for some symptoms, and it came back clear. But he recently had a minor heart scare. Is it possible for an EKG to sometimes miss a heart attack, especially if it's not very severe?

Yes, sometimes a single EKG can miss a heart attack if it is in the early stages or if it's a silent one. Please consult a doctor who can guide you on other tests if you still feel unwell.

My father's doctor explained that an EKG only captures a snapshot of the heart's electricity at that exact second, so it can miss things. We always trust our family doctor's advice to do a blood test as well to be completely safe.

In my experience, modern machines are good but they are not 100% perfect. A person can still have discomfort even if the EKG looks fine. Keep him resting, don't give heavy food, and take him to a bigger hospital if the pain does not go away.

Absolutely, an EKG can show a normal reading even while a heart attack is happening or right after it. It’s why hospitals always repeat the EKG and do blood work over a few hours. If you have chest pain, a normal EKG doesn't mean you can just go home.

Actually yaar, an EKG can miss it if the block is in a tricky spot or if it’s too early. That's why doctors do those Troponin blood tests to be sure. If you feel any chest pain or heavy breathing, don't just sit home thinking the EKG was fine.

I panicked so much when my uncle's EKG was normal but he still had chest pressure. The emergency doctor reassured us that this happens sometimes, which is why they did a repeat test and blood tests. Everything turned out fine, so just trust the doctors to do the complete evaluation.

With diabetes, silent heart attacks are common and sometimes an EKG might not show the changes immediately. That is why doctors also look at blood tests like Troponin. Make sure you monitor your diet, sugar levels, and don't rely only on one test if symptoms persist.
