Can an ear infection cause vomiting in a child?

My 2-year-old son has an ear infection, and he's been throwing up quite a bit. The doctor said it's probably viral, but I'm wondering if the ear infection itself can make a child vomit. It seems unusual for just an ear issue.

Yes, it absolutely can. Children often vomit with ear infections due to fluid buildup affecting their balance, so please show a pediatrician.

I know how stressful it is when kids get sick, it makes my own blood pressure shoot up! Yes, ear pressure can make them dizzy and cause vomiting. Keep them in a quiet, stress-free room and get a pediatrician to examine them as soon as possible.

It is quite common because the fluid in the middle ear messes up their equilibrium, leading to motion-sickness like nausea. Don't wait around trying home remedies for kids. Just take them to a good pediatrician and get their ears checked with an otoscope.

Please don't worry too much, this happens to many young children. Keep the child comfortable, try to feed them very light food, and consult your doctor for safe medicine.

My son went through this exact same thing last year. He had a bad cold, which turned into an ear infection and he suddenly started throwing up. The doctor told us the congestion was putting pressure on his inner ear. Keep giving small sips of water or ORS so they don't dehydrate, and get the antibiotics started if the doctor prescribes them.

My little nephew had this last month and my sister was freaking out. Turns out the ear fluid was making him dizzy and nauseous. Once the doctor gave him some ear drops and syrup, he was perfectly fine in a couple of days.

Poor kid, when the ears are blocked even their favorite snacks won't look appealing and everything tastes weird. That ear pressure really ruins their appetite and triggers vomiting. Skip the heavy meals for now and stick to simple clear soups or dal paani until you see the doctor.
