Can an ear infection cause vomiting and diarrhea?

My little one has an ear infection, and along with the fever, she's also had vomiting and loose motions since morning. I'm really concerned. Is it common for an ear infection to lead to such severe stomach issues like vomiting and diarrhea?

Hey, don't stress too much, but this can actually happen, especially if the inner ear is affected since it controls our balance. Still, having both vomiting and loose motions sounds really exhausting. You should definitely show a doctor today to stay safe and get some rehydration tips.

When the ears are blocked, the stomach often feels uneasy and causes vomiting. For the stomach, you can try having light khichdi and buttermilk, but please do not ignore the ear pain. Go to a local clinic and get the right drops prescribed by a professional.

Honestly, if you are dealing with both vomiting and diarrhea alongside ear pain, it is too much to manage at home. It could be a viral infection affecting multiple areas. Better to book an online consultation or visit a nearby clinic immediately instead of waiting for it to clear up.

Listen, don't panic. Sometimes a severe ear infection affects the balance center of your brain and causes nausea, but diarrhea might mean there's a stomach bug too, or maybe a reaction to some medicine. Please take some ORS, rest well, and let a doctor take a look at you today.

In children and even some adults, ear infections can cause stomach upset and nausea because of the fluid pressure or swallowed mucus. But if you have both vomiting and diarrhea, you can get dehydrated very fast. Make sure to consult a general physician and drink plenty of warm water and coconut water.
