Can an ear infection cause tooth pain?

My doctor confirmed I have an ear infection, and now some of my upper teeth on that side are also aching quite a bit. I'm confused if this is a dental problem or if it's connected to the ear infection. Does an ear infection cause tooth pain?

True, I have experienced this and it can be so confusing. Definitely get your ear checked by a doc first, that usually clears up the tooth pain too.

Actually yes, it is very common because the nerves in our face are all connected. Pain from your ear can easily travel and feel like it is coming from your back teeth. Just make sure to get the ear checked by an ENT doctor first so they can prescribe the right drops.

I had a bad earache last year and my lower molar started hurting like crazy. The dentist checked and said my teeth were perfectly fine, it was just the ear infection radiating down. Once I finished my ear treatment, the toothache went away on its own.

My ENT explained this beautifully to me when I had a sinus issue. The nerves that supply your upper teeth run very close to your sinuses and ears, so inflammation there mimics a bad toothache. He advised me to treat the ear infection first instead of rushing for dental fillings.

Don't worry too much, this is quite a common thing to happen. Just take rest and try to see a general doctor soon. It will get better once the main issue is treated.

Even if it seems like a simple ear infection, please don't ignore it or wait too long. Any kind of pain radiating to your teeth or jaw should be checked by an ENT. It is always better to be safe and get a proper diagnosis early.

My family doctor told me that the trigeminal nerve connects both areas, which is why this happens. I always suggest going to a proper hospital and getting both checked by a specialist if needed. Don't guess around with pain near the brain.

My grandmother always told us to put warm oil, but please don't do all that for ear pain. The nerves in our jaw and ear are very close, so they mimic each other. It is best to visit a clinic near you and get a proper checkup.

Oh god, this happened to me last winter! I honestly thought I had a major cavity and went to my dentist, but he sent me to an ENT instead. Turns out my middle ear infection was radiating pain straight to my jaw. Once the ear cleared up, the toothache totally disappeared.

I completely understand how scary and annoying this is, I spent a whole night googling jaw pain and ear issues thinking it was something worst. It really is just referred pain because of the shared nerves. Take a deep breath and book an appointment with a doctor, it will ease your mind.
